RELAXING – IMPROVES CIRCULATION – IMMUNITY
During a Swedish massage, the practitioner rubs the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Additionally, kneading, deep circular movements and passive joint movements can be used.
The massage is performed on the whole body. When you come to our massage room, the practitioner will ask you to undress while he or she waits outside and you will lie down under a sheet on a massage table. This sheet will be pulled back and adjusted to reveal parts of the body that the practitioner will work on. The practitioner will use an oil or lotion to allow for smooth and long strokes. You can ask for light, medium or firm pressure. The practitioner will start working on your back, then your legs and feet, then your arms, and then ask you to flip over so he/she can work on the front of your legs and arms, and finally your head.
The primary goal of a Swedish massage is to relax the entire body. It also increases the level of oxygen in the blood, decrease muscle toxins, improves circulation and flexibility. It has also been found to boost the immune cells that fight cold and flu.
