On Sept 8th, Prabha will teach you how to massage all parts of your own body – from head and face to arms and hands; from back and belly to legs and feet – using Do-In self-massage techniques. What is Do-In Self-Massage?

Do-In originates from the Japanese Dao-Yin and is an ancient physical therapeutic practice, said to be over 5000 years old and possibly even preceding yoga. This practice is the precursor of for example Tai Chi, Qigong, Shiatsu and Martial Arts. When Shiatsu practitioners are taught how to massage their clients, a massage technique for which their own body needs to be flexible and strong as doing the massage is intense exercise for the practitioner itself, they are also taught how to work on themselves first so they can give the most to others. Shiatsu and Do-In self-massage are massage techniques that use mostly the palm and thumb pressure coordinated with the breath to massage the entire body, with specific focus on the meridians. Special meridian points (as are used in acupuncture) are targeted as well.

What will you learn in this retreat?

In this weekend retreat you will learn:

  • Where the 12 main meridians are in your body

  • How to use your palms and thumbs and breath to massage your own body in a slow and deeply powerful way

  • Which Self-Massage techniques to use for: face, head, arms, hands, belly, back, legs and feet

  • A few important meridian points to include in your practice, and how to search online for more

Who can join?

This workshop is suitable for everyone, for teenagers to seniors, for beginners to experienced yogis or practitioners, and for those who are healthy to those with a lot of health challenges! Every exercise can be done or adapted in a way that is suitable and healing for your body!

Who is Prabha?

Prabha (1982) is a certified Do-In Yoga teacher and Shiatsu practitioner. She has been teaching yoga since 2007, and has extensively trained in yoga, meditation and energy work with Sri Vasudeva at the Blue Star centre in Claxton Bay, Trinidad & Tobago, spending a total of almost 3 years there since her first visit in 2007. She received her 200 hrs Do-In Yoga teacher training from the Do-In School in The Netherlands, which was founded in 2006 and has since trained several hundreds of teachers in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. She received her 200 hrs Shiatsu massage training at the Wellness Academy in Hasselt, Belgium. Prabha also has certificates in Reiki (Master-level), SPHE-RE and Quantum Touch. She has a PhD in Physics and has worked as a full-time Physics teacher for over 6 years at several high schools in The Netherlands.

Donation: 350 TTD to be payed at the start of the workshop or online.

What to bring?

  • Loose fitting clothes that cover shoulders and knees, suitable for exercise
  • A yoga mat if you have one available (if not, we have some spare ones)
  • A bottle of water (you can refill it with filtered water at our centre)
  • Writing material
  • If you have them, some (meditation) cushions or pillows to help supporting parts of your body during the exercises if needed.

Registration Procedure

Registration involves 2 steps: filling out the registration form and paying the donation fee. The latter can also be done at the start of the workshop.

Payment of the workshop is refundable for cancellations more than 1 weeks before the start date of the retreat, but non-refundable for cancellations within 1 week of the start date.
