Guru Purnima is a festival dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers, celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Buddhists and other spiritual groups. It takes place on the full moon day (Purnima) in the Hindu month of Ashadha (June–July). The word Guru is derived from the syllables gu, meaning darkness, and ru, meaning light. Therefore, a Guru is the one who removes the darkness of ignorance and shows us the light of our true being. On this day, we as disciples offer thanks to our Guru Sri Vasudeva and all the Masters guiding us. It is said the the Guru Principle is a thousand times more active on this day than any other day. Stay tuned for details on exact programming of this day!
