The Power Inside

Today I want to celebrate that inner power. I live by that and no matter what, I will continue to live by that, having implicit faith in the wisdom of this power. Satsang is about anchoring ourselves with that power inside; connecting and staying in the state of that power. Prayer is a way of going inside and entering the sacred space; that is what prayer is. People pray in different ways, rituals, supplication, confession, repentance, meditation. Let our prayer be this evening to touch that power inside and to let it release that peace and happiness that is inherent to our soul. I have been saying to you as God is love, so are we; as God is peace, so are we. We are no different to God in quality. Satsang is about centering ourselves in that space and being strengthened by the power of that space. This is so important.

I have watched over the last days how peoples’ faith fluctuated by the basis of rumours that went around and how vulnerable we become. But let us connect to that space where we can feel comforted and where we can help to create change and not be caught by fear.

Each year I live in faith that the current year will be a better one than the last. And I am holding firm to that, that we are going to achieve more this year, we are going to be stronger in this year, we are going to be more united in this year and we are going to help influence our communities. In order to influence community positively, we have to be stronger. I hope you can be a little more committed to your own personal growth.

I want to thank those of you who come to the Centre to do seva/selfless service, to be part of the discipline, whether from the local or international community. You help us to be stronger when you come and look for us and you keep in contact - we become stronger.

This evening as we pray, let us hold Vindra in that space and let us pray strongly for her release. Whatever is the Divine play at work let us pray that God’s Will, will be that she will be released very very soon. I pray for that every day. My heart reaches out to the Infinite Power inside of me and around me with the wish that she will be spared any further suffering and she will be released to continue her wonderful work. Every day and every night, my heart utters that wish. And I hope you can continue to join us in this.

When we begin satsang, it is extremely important to bring your attention into the now, in this moment. Our greatest power comes when we are focused in the now and we are here now. If your minds are everywhere, you never appreciate what is happening. When we spend time together, there is a lot of energy flowing. When the mind is moving, you are never able to appreciate fully what is happening here. It is important to be here and now. That is one of the joys I have in my spiritual discipline that I can be focused in the here and now. Not only here but in everything else that I do.

If you are singing, many things are happening in you. There are a lot of spiritual energies flowing when we are singing and if you can feel that, it is amazing. Or, when we are meditating or even as I speak to you, there are a lot of spiritual energies flowing. When you become quiet, you pick this up.

These sessions are also sessions of healing; they are comforting emotionally, mentally and physically. Emotionally, they take you into a more loving space and that is healing, it is stress releasing. They take you into a more powerful mental space and your whole nervous and vital system feels strengthened when spiritual energies awaken within you and begin to flow. When you are in a session with me, this is what I do.

When I speak to you, I am not just speaking to you, I am communicating to you at several levels; my eyes see you but another part of me feels you. We have a sense of that; we can sense the love of a person; we can sense fear in a space; we can sense positive energy in a space; we can sense when someone is not telling the truth to us. We can sense when someone is doubtful and fearful. We have this sense. In satsang if we begin to use that sense, we will pick up another level of communication.

The God we all search for is a God that we are all a part of. We exist in God; we are a part of God. If I want to see God, I have only to look at you; I have to look at the world and that is God relating to me. God acts through the ignorant, the wise, and the handicapped. God is in everything and in everyone. Where do I need to look for God, in a picture somewhere or in a statue somewhere? Is that where I look for God? The power that flows in every human being and in every form of life, that is where I look for God. I am sorry, but that is the only God I see. God speaks to me every day and I speak to God every day. God looks at me every day and I look at God every day. God is in everything I look at.

One of the prayers we say in Sanskrit is, ‘We bow to You who have a thousand feet, a thousand arms, a thousand legs,’ meaning that everything that has feet is an expression of God because He has so many forms. I am so happy that I have that vision because I don’t have to search for God anywhere.

In realising that God is within me, came the realization that God is in everyone. That is my reason for being happy today. Amidst all the chaos and negative things, this is my reason for being happy today. Let us glorify that power in prayer.

Experience That Divine Power Inside

On my spiritual journey, I loved reading about the lives of great teachers. On our wall you will see a number of teachers, of course, there are more. If you have time and you can read a little bit of their lives, you will be fascinated and inspired because you will find that some of their stories are like our stories. They live the human existence like us. It is very inspiring.

Our satsang is geared to experience that divine power inside. That divine power is called Shakti, Holy Spirit; some call it Gi or Ki. I want you to be touched by this power, so much that your energy field will become different and you will feel different. If you are a student, your mental faculties become stronger, your emotional being becomes stronger, and your stresses go away. If you are a person who is physically ill, you feel strengthened by the spirit inside that you can deal with your illness. If you are a person who is confused and have some problems in the mind, you find more clarity and you can see things in a different way; what might seem to be a big problem will now seem small. This is what satsang can bring to you.
