My
Dear Ones,
Are we just physical beings or are we much more? Are we destined
to grow old and die or do we have a deeper identity that is
beyond the physical and survives the physical? If you have
asked these questions and have been seeking a greater reality
then you need to take a deeper look at the human experience.
Although we are physical beings, we are so much more. The
senses of our body allow us to experience the physical world.
This experience can be so powerful that we may see and treat
it as our reality. It is so easy to be caught up in what we
see, smell, taste, touch and hear that our entire life revolves
around this. We live for moments of sensational delight. When
the physical experience becomes painful or miserable then
we tend to question the nature of our being and seek out a
greater reality. The wise person will not wait for this moment
but begin to explore now.
On this journey of inner exploration we need the help of a
keen intellect and a powerful observer. The intellect allows
us to question and to discriminate the false from the real.
We can probe the inner world by questioning: seeking to understand
the Source from where thought arises and subsides, from where
peace and love emerge and from where the feeling of a sacred
space is felt. It can be argued by scientists that all of
these are related to activities of the brain
But for those who have touched the inner space they know it
as a different reality, a non-physical reality. If we can
keep an open mind as we explore, then we have a chance to
touch this greater reality that has been spoken about.
This greater reality is related to the experience of the Observer
within us. We are not only mental beings with the ability
to create thoughts, ideas and images. We can also observe
ourselves do so. We can witness the entire process within
us. This is an important quality as we explore the inner domain.
We can observe how thoughts arise and subside. We can also
see how our emotional being responds and when we get carried
away. Just witnessing gives us a greater perspective to work
from and helps us to manage thoughts and emotions which are
so important to our well-being. Witnessing helps us to be
objective and to make wiser choices. We become better listeners
as we learn to observe more. We not only learn to observe
others but also how we respond to them. In doing so, we learn
how to respond in better ways.
Witnessing also helps us to bring the mind into silence and
to experience what lies at the Source of the mind. This is
where we can experience the deepest level of our being and
our true reality. Meditation is a key process in developing
this witness consciousness and taking us to our innermost
being. Let us give attention to this important discipline.
Let us begin to seek out this greater reality as the experiences
of the physical world are limiting and do not offer the most
sublime experiences that are possible for us as human beings.
Let us seek to understand and experience all that we are on
this human journey.
Yours
in loving service,
Vasudeva
