My Dear Ones,

LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS THYSELF

We remember this statement as one of the commandments that Jesus the Christ left us with. The first commandment He gave was to love God with our whole mind, heart and soul and then He followed it with this. The first led us on an inner journey to uncover our own divinity as He reminded us that the Kingdom of Heaven lies within us. Without the powerful experience of the selfless love that exists within us we will not be able to love anyone in the truest way. Today, more than ever, we are challenged to unite our diverse and fragmented world if we are to survive as a human family. We need to love from a deeper inner space and to express this love towards our world. Does this remind us of those two 'little' commandments given by this soul of light over two thousand years ago?

Each day I pray in my heart for a more united world where we can love each other for who we are, children of one Creator. A world where we do not deny those who are in need just because they were born in an area of poverty or distress. I pray for a world where the wealthy will help the poor, the educated will help the ignorant, the healthy will help the sick and the leaders will serve the followers. We need to look after each other. Certainly, we need to accept the diversity of ethnicity and culture that naturally exists but we should not let this separate us as a human family. We are too intelligent to allow this. We should not kill each other because of differences, as life is sacred. Each soul that is born to our world is a gift from the Creator of life. It is a brother or sister sent to us. We should welcome that person to our world with all the love in our heart. Each child that is born needs our love, attention and guidance and should not be greeted by war, poverty and sickness. They should grow up surrounded by those who embrace human values so that they have good role models to follow. Being civilized means looking after each other, not killing or destroying senselessly. The future of our world lies in the youth that we are developing. If we have made mistakes in our generation because of ignorance or lack of guidance let us not allow our youth to repeat the same mistakes.

We can only make this step if we really love each other in a deeper way, seeing each one as a brother or sister of Life. If we are to have a world of peace, love and harmony then we need to make this step. Selfless love comes when we touch the depth of our soul. Meditation, prayer or self-reflection can help us to get there. If we follow the principles of religion sincerely, and are able to touch our Creator we will see life differently. We will embrace each other despite differences. We will love our neighbour as the Christ taught. The world will be such a different place.

Let us strive to make this possible in our lives. If those of us who believe in this principle put it into practice then we create a powerful wave of subtle energy that can influence the consciousness of our world. Let us give power to this great commandment by living it. Let us honour the life of this great being whose birth has made the month of December so special to all of us. May the blessings of the season be with you!

Yours in service,
Vasudeva
