My Dear Ones,

As we meet let us take a moment to really reflect on how we can centre ourselves in that space of great power within. We can read all the great books in the world and learn all kinds of techniques and still be challenged in making this inner journey. It is not an easy one by any means. Though great power lies within us and we believe in its existence, experiencing it is another story. The experience can elude us despite all the knowledge we have.

I take great joy in saying that when we are in the presence of those who manifest this power in their lives we have the opportunity to touch this treasured space if we are ready and receptive. Spiritual awakening takes place in a natural and effortless way in such presence. What we read in books then becomes understood and techniques that we learned on the path become alive.

Those who have the experience of the spirit even though not in fullness can become a guide and inspiration to us. Let us recognize and respect them when they enter our lives. Those who are selfless, non-judgmental, compassionate and honour the one spirit within all are worthy of being a guide on our path. In my Divali message I wrote to you on how to seek a mentor. I invite you to read and contemplate these words again:

Choosing Mentors
Those who live in the light are the ones who can really guide us on Life's journey. As we seek and select mentors let us choose the ones who are examples of what they teach. The blind cannot lead the blind. Be cautious of those who speak much and whose actions are not consistent with their speech. The ones who are true to their words carry an inspiring and energizing presence. Associate with those who can uplift you and be careful of picking up unconsciously the bad habits of those whom we cannot avoid. We need to be more aware of the impact of peoples’ presence in our lives and to choose our mentors carefully.

We need better leaders in our world today. We cannot move forward as a society unless our leaders embrace and express noble human values. If we are in leadership positions let us learn to serve with love and respect knowing that service to humankind is divine service.

Yours in service,
Vasudeva
