- The Need for Enlightened Leadership

My Dear Ones,

When I think of world peace or living in a society where there is true love, charity and kindness and compassion, I think of the need for enlightened leadership. By this I mean being led by those who live in the light, being led by those who manifest the higher qualities of the spirit in their lives.

Human beings influence each other by their presence. Powerful thoughts, emotions and intentions create strong presence beyond physical vitality. The strong influences the weak and vulnerable. In such a world good and evil both have their following. Those who lead with qualities of greed, anger, intolerance and physical might are inclined to create fear, unhappiness and insecurity in those they lead. They are also likely to create conflict with those who oppose them which can lead to hate and violence. Violence breeds violence. So long as this continues there can be no hope for peace.

There are also those who use kind words, express intentions and display actions that seem to spring from a source of goodness. But, sad to say, in the human experience we can display kindness at a superficial level whilst deep down we carry negative feelings and intentions. Hence, it is very difficult to trust fellow beings in this kind of scenario. When leaders embrace this dual nature they create an environment of distrust and disharmony.

We need, today, a different kind of leadership if we are to move forward in creating a world of peace, love and harmony. Leaders must carry the qualities that would inspire peace, love and harmony. They need to be the example of what they want others to be. As messengers they need to become their message. Their actions must be consistent with their speech and intentions. Their desire must be to serve rather than lead. Can we rise to the occasion? The ball is in our court. We are on Life’s stage. The opportunity is before us. Do we want a better world? If we do, let us act responsibly and do so now.

Reflect upon this.

Yours in service,
Vasudeva
