My
Dear Ones,
Are you aware that the environment we live and operate in
is strongly influenced by our presence? The space where people
live in fear has a different kind of atmosphere or energy
than a space where people live in love. The space where we
work tend to have a different kind of feel to the space where
we relax and have fun. The place where we engage in prayer
vibrates with a different kind of energy to the street that
is busy with noisy and diverse activities. Every space tends
to assume a character based on the activities we carry out
in that space.
Is it possible then that having this awareness we can create
the kind of energy we want to in the spaces we live and operate
in? We need to create the kind of atmosphere in our space
that would support the activity that we carry out in that
space. Our resting, relaxing, working and praying spaces should
have qualities that enhance these activities. We should take
time to physically arrange these spaces for the effect we
want and charge them with the energy of our presence as we
use them. This requires giving attention to spaces and their
qualities and the value they offer to us.
We have the power to change the energy in spaces that we meet
and find undesirable. In my travels, when I have to stay in
spaces that have been used by many others I immediately feel
the difference in energy to my normal space. I can see that
it has less to do with the objects in the space as much as
with the people who occupied the space. It may take a few
days depending on how busy it was and who stayed in it for
the space to become 'my space'. But the moment it becomes
'my space' I am completely comfortable and feel supported
by the space.
What I find also interesting is the different qualities that
a space can take. If people are physically exercising in a
space and are devoted to the activity the space carries this
quality of influence. Similarly with working, if people enjoy
working in a space and work with creativity, joy and team
spirit the space carries that kind of quality that inspires
us when we enter it. It is the same with the space where people
meditate, pray or worship with true feelings. The space can
hold us in those same feelings if we are receptive. A garden
that is cultivated with love, joy and respect for nature would
carry a special kind of energy that can inspire us when we
enter. Entering a space can not only be energizing but also
be transforming depending on the intensity of energy in the
space. Of course, this depends on the intensity of focus,
dedication and commitment of the people in that space to the
activities they are engaged in.
I remember that during my first visit to India how profoundly
influenced I was by the powerful spiritual vibrations of a
certain spiritual Centre I visited. The teacher was not there
but the students were very devoted to their discipline of
meditation, work, rest and prayer in an atmosphere of love,
peace and what I would call ‘awakened spiritual energy’.
It was amazing this influence had on me. My own spiritual
energies were awakened for the first time in my life and a
powerful transformation began within me. I was so inspired
by this that I created the same kind of atmosphere in my own
space which yielded the greatest results for me.
What about your space? Does it support you? Are you pleased
with it? Does it provide an opportunity for you to transform
it? I will leave you with these questions to contemplate upon.
Ever in service,
Vasudeva
