My Dear Ones,

Last Thursday, we joined the Hindus in honoring spiritual teachers on the full moon day in July reserved in the Hindu Calendar for such an occasion. This event is called Guru Purnima. Purnima literally means the full moon. Spiritual teachers are seen in this tradition to be the ones filled with the light of the spirit. It was a joy for us to join in this occasion as we believe in Blue Star that it is only the true spiritual teachers of our world who can lead us out of the darkness of fear, loneliness and misery arising from ignorance of our true nature.

Spiritual teachers, regardless of the tradition to which they belong, manifest love, peace and wisdom to such a degree that they inspire transformation in others in a very natural and effortless way. Their own light has the power to awaken our light. They are messengers who have become their message. Their power to inspire and awaken comes from who they are. These are the leaders we need in our society today. These are the leaders we need to listen to. These are the leaders whose footsteps we need to follow if we too are to become true leaders.

In my own journey of self discovery true awakening of my spirit only came when I made contact with such a being. Initially, I was profoundly influenced by the environment which he created and the energy it possessed. This awakened in me my own inner guide. It was then that I realized with certainty that the purpose of the physical guide is to inspire the awakening of our own inner guide. True teachers ask nothing from us but offer themselves in service if we are sincere in seeking and receptive to their guidance. Their joy is in the giving.

Today, I believe that only such teachers can bring the best within us and lead us on the path to true freedom. As we seek to create a better world we need to recognize them and accept the gift they offer to us in wrapped so beautifully in their words of wisdom, eyes of kindness and intentions of selfless love. Their very presence is a blessing to our world wherever they live. May their light continue to light up our world.

May we and all our spiritual teachers be blessed on this sacred day and always.

In loving service,
Vasudeva
