40 Day Message

My Dear Ones,

When we look at our world and the devastation, loss and grief experienced during natural disasters, when Nature destroys with unbridled fury how should we view Nature? Is that which feeds us also being cruel to us? Is it demonic in its fury as it destroys so many lives? Why should that which supports life also destroy it? We live on an Earth that can erupt with volcanoes, develop wind currents of deadly speeds and have earth movements that can displace territories and destroy cities. Our world can be destructive as it can be creative. How do we learn to live in a world that operates on the principle of survival for the fittest?

Nature will be as it will be - creative and destructive. It is the way it is designed. Both forces are ever at play in our Universe. Life is constantly being created, sustained and destroyed. Shall we call destruction evil? It is in the nature of life. We cannot change that. As human beings we need to understand what this experience of duality means for us. It offers us a challenge. To survive we need to use our resourceful and powerful intellect. This distinguishes us as human beings. If we study the laws of Nature and use them well we can live healthy and a full lives manifesting our full potential. We will also learn to be mindful of Nature's fury and learn how to protect ourselves from its dangerous side.

We have been blessed with the ability to develop technology to protect ourselves from natural disasters. We need only to use it wisely. We can create warning systems that will help us to predict when danger approaches. We have the ability to create support systems that will have the capability to respond quickly, efficiently and adequately to disasters should they take place without warning. We have been blessed with this resourcefulness. As global citizens we need to be more caring and generous to our fellow human beings across the planet and not be in a mad and selfish pursuit of pleasure and power. Our greatest enemy in the human experience is our own shortcomings when we allow them to take us over. Greed, jealousy and selfishness can undermine our collective ability to help those in need in our world. Our real challenge is to overcome our shortcomings.

As we need to understand Nature and learn to work with its creative and destructive aspects, so too, do we need to deal with ourselves and our fellow human beings. We, too, are dual in nature and are capable of the worst and the best. This is how we have been created. When we manifest our destructive side we bring pain, sadness and misery to ourselves and those around us. Think about it. We have the power to be even more destructive than the natural forces of the environment. We need to be ever mindful of this. However, when we manifest the best within us we uplift ourselves and our environment. We have the power to build safe, sustainable and progressive communities. The challenge given by Nature to us is to bring out the best within us and in those around us. Are we seeing this? Are we doing this? Awareness is important.

We need to learn how to make the right choices. We have been blessed with the intellect to do so. As we relate to others, let us always be mindful of their dual nature and strive to bring out only their goodness. When we arouse their destructive side we play with danger. Let our intentions and actions reflect our wisdom.

In loving service,
Vasudeva
