Welcome to Day 32 of our 40 Day Retreat 2009.
Today, I am going to begin the chakra journey. We began these talks a long time ago speaking about multi-dimensionality, the Source, about awakening, the inner and outer guru, the power of the student and pranayama; amazing information. The theme of this entire retreat is Energy Awareness and Mastery- The Kundalini Journey.
We Emit Subtle Energies
Chakra means wheel but in the context of the energy field it means spinning energies, whirling, moving energies. In speaking about multi-dimensionality we are physical beings but we are also energy beings. We impact our world with subtle energy. In fact your eyes, voice, touch and entire being emit subtle energy but a lot of us are not aware of it. We are so physically identified that we are not aware of it. There are different qualities of energy we emit, vibrations of sexual energy, vitality, emotional energy, communicative, mental energy and physical energy. All these are energies that we emit. We are not aware that there is a science behind this. Trapped in physical consciousness we think only of physical energy, unaware of the other energies within us and the ability to tap into and master them.
Only when we become awakened to this multi-dimensionality and to these energies we begin to understand what these energies are, where they are coming from and the impact that they have. Spiritual awakening is absolutely essential to be able to understand it. That is why we say we need a guide and we need someone to help us out of the darkness.
The energy journey or journey of discovering the energies and realizing the power within us at the different levels is a science. That journey moves in an organized and planned way; the journey of energy. It is important to understand that journey. In discovering and being awakened to our energies we begin to experience a journey along the center of the spine, not at the physical level but at an invisible or subtle level. This journey takes us through marvelous, amazing, positive and negative experiences, ultimately becoming positive. Initially maybe some negative experiences but being guided correctly and understanding well, we begin to experience only positives.
Power to Channel Energy in Different Dimensions
This is a journey of ascension, of evolving consciousness. There are seven points along this chakra (energy) journey. Each of these points is called a chakra and they are located at specific areas in the physical body, of course existing in the energy field but we can locate them at specific areas in the physical body. These points are gateways to your inner power. They give us the keys to unlocking these doors that can lead us to an infinite source of power inside, bringing the ability to channel that power at each level within our being. It is incredible that we can channel energy in different dimensions at will, if we know how to.
When each chakra within us is opened a whole new awareness of our being comes. When the chakra is opened, we feel as though we have made another step in self-awareness, self-identity and in self-realization. Each step gives us more power, the power to master ourselves and the power to impact our world. It is important in the journey of human development to be able to tap into these resources we have and to bring that power into our world.
Beings in Service to the Most Powerful and Purest Ego
The most powerful persons in our world have their power centered inside, and are able to channel energies through every center towards the world. These are the most powerful beings in our planet, having the power to master themselves and having the power to impact our world. Of course they do not interfere with the order of things in the world. They do so only in alignment to the Supreme that is why you may not see them. They come into a space only when bidden and when drawn into the space. They are not there for the glorification or satisfaction of their own egos. They are there in service to the most powerful and purest ego in the Universe that we call God.
Being Trapped In Physical Awareness
In the normal human being who is unaware of these energies and who is centered in the lowest level of our being, they are trapped in physical awareness only. They are trapped in the first chakra that is called Muladhara, the base center. The base center holds us in bondage to the earth and the behaviour of such persons would be related only to survival issues; eating, sleeping, procreating, pleasure seeking. That is being rooted to the base level.
Now this entire spinal column has a channel called Sushumna Nadi that connects all these chakra points. Everywhere along that channel is infinite power in potential and every chakra point gives us an opening or a gateway towards bringing energy into our world. Of course every human being is a Source of infinite power. Listen to my words every human being is a Source of infinite power and can channel power through all these centers that I will describe, and impacting the world.
But caught in the Muladhara center we begin to think only of physical might, survival and we are unable to appreciate or to tap into the qualities of the higher centers. To come out of this darkness, to come out of Muladhara we need initial spiritual awakening. The energy when locked, we call it polarized because the energy seems to be locked only at the base of the spine.
Awakened Muladhara
When the energy is awakened it begins to move upward then the human being begins to have some bit of spiritual consciousness. Of course, as the energy ascends in every point the spiritual consciousness opens up. Muladhara is the starting point and it begins to give us the idea of seeing more than the physical world and wanting more.
The first sign of wanting to worship or to honor some creative power in the universe comes from the opening up of the Muladhara. Then when we worship we think of the Divine just like a physical being because we are identified with the Muladhara. We see the Divine as a big, physical being. You will find in those people who are held in Muladhara. They enjoy eating and they enjoy the world, so in touch with the physical things of life; the smell and taste. They seem to be happy but they cannot really handle emotional issues or complex mental issues or being able to even manage themselves; but physical power, yes.
When this chakra is opened and it begins its ascension we need to move upwards not just to stay there because as the higher chakras open up, they give us more power to open up this Muladhara in a better way. The Muladhara keeps us in touch with the earth.
Do Not Neglect Muladhara, Utilize It
One of the difficulties I have had is that in the opening up of the upper chakras the tendency is to want to go higher and higher and to actually neglect the Muladhara. I will say in my own life that has been a principal issue because in spiritual awakening and development I just wanted to move upward and I think in so doing I have neglected my body in so many ways. Even after experiencing the crown I appreciated the body but I never fully utilized the Muladhara. The Muladhara is there to be utilized. It puts you in touch with the earth, it gives you the joy of grounding, and it gives the love of exercise, physical activity, the love of nature, love of eating and cleaning. It puts you wonderfully in contact with the earth. If I had taken advantage of this a long time ago I would have felt happier. I think only in my forties did I decide to give Muladhara a little more attention and I am happy that I did and now I give it lots of attention.
I remember on the spiritual journey when thinking, “How can these materialist people be so happy and I cannot seem to find happiness in the things they do; the eating, sleeping, drinking”. That is because I never positively activated the chakra in the way that I should, but these people are grounded there so they have no issues in being locked in that chakra. Materialists are grounded there. When I had all these upper chakras available then, I neglected the Muladhara. Coming back and grounding myself into the Muladhara would have been a sensible thing to do. Then I would have been able to enjoy it like them but so much better because I have the control of all the upper chakras.
That is what I have learned. Now I can enjoy the physical world better than these people will, when I deliberately enter the Muladhara activate it strongly, and ground myself in the earth. That is exciting. That is what I have learnt. I would want to think “too late” but it is not too late. Every day now for many years, I enjoy Muladhara with the awareness of the other centers too and that is a joy. Although it is the first chakra and it puts us in touch with the earth but with the help of all the other chakras it makes being on the earth so beautiful, joyful and happy. I do not fear dying or growing old because the other chakras give me joy.
Those who are stuck in Muladhara they fear to die and to grow old. They are so concerned with the physical but there is no fear within me because I have all the other centers as well. This is the beginning of the journey and as we continue to forge our way upward as I will discuss more, we need not neglect Muladhara but to use it effectively and when the upper chakras open up more they allow us to use Muladhara in better and better ways. It is a beautiful chakra. It grounds us to the earth. It is worth giving attention to.

For those of you engaged in the spiritual journey, Muladhara is not a chakra to be forgotten, not because it pertains to the material world. It is a chakra to be energized and managed by the powerful upper chakras. It is a chakra to empower us in living in and bringing light into this body and light into our world.
Our body is a gift, use it well. Use Muladhara well. Have a blessed day.
