Welcome to Day 21 of our 40 Day Retreat 2009.
I have been speaking to you about Energetic Communication and how we all exist in the Source. When we go into our energy Being we can communicate across any distance because we all exist in the Source. Wherever you are, you are actually in the Source with me. And if we can identify with the energy body, then we can communicate instantly no matter where we are, from energy body to energy body which is not hindered by physical distance.
Instant Communication in the Energy Field
Physical distance holds us in space at a certain location, but the energy body can traverse beyond physical distance. In a moment, in a flash you think of someone and you are there with them energetically, when you are compatible. That means you can touch them energetically. However, if you are energetically displaced, if you are in a different position energetically from the other then it is difficult to make that communication.
The reason why I am speaking about energetic communication is that we can communicate with the Masters. In our journey of seeking there are masters in our world who have pledged to serve, and so their energy field is open and they are always very happy when we seek them out. There are masters in our Universe at different levels who will come to us in times of need if we reach out to them.
Inspired by Spiritual Masters
In my case, I have been influenced by those masters. My desire was to have a physical master that I eventually got. But I want you to know that we are influenced by masters. In fact, in my early days, the writings of certain masters touched me very deeply. I felt touched by their energy and their presence which was remarkable. For example Paramhamsa Yogananda, I felt very touched by his words and his books, and I could feel the closeness of my soul to his. I could feel that wherever he was in the spiritual realms I could touch him and it was the same with Swami Vivekananda, just to give two examples.
I felt so empowered by their words as though they were driving me in a journey. If fact, it was the words of Swami Vivekananda that led me to India. In one of his books he wrote about the impulse from another soul who has made the journey. That impulse of energy from that master or that soul can awaken within us our own power and help us to move up on the journey. The presence of a master, the impulse of a living master inspired me. That is one of the reasons why I chose to go from here, the Caribbean, to India at the age of 21. I wanted to be in the presence of a living master. I have been so inspired by other masters and I continue to be inspired by them. I do feel that my work is supported by many masters. I have a great appreciation for masters and I invite their energies in my work.
Be Open to Receive from Masters
On our journey, we need to be open to the energies of spiritual masters across time and across distance. By ‘across time’ I mean even if they have passed on, their energies are still there for us and we can touch it. When we read the works of spiritual masters and we feel energized by them, we are actually being empowered by the masters’ energy wherever they are. We draw them towards us. We draw their guidance, and as I said before, they are pledged to serve, so their energy field is open.
It is also important to observe that in times of need when we are reaching out and there are no physical masters next to us, we can be nourished by the words of these masters who may be away from us. We can pull their energy towards us by reading their words, contemplating their ideas, and even by holding their image before us. I have told you the secret of the image before.
Secret of the Image
If you hold the image of a Being who energizes you by their words, for example, you hold that image before you and you begin to think of the presence. If you are being nourished by words, the words will carry a certain kind of energy. You will feel the personality and the energy of the person through those words and you will get a sense of the person through those words. And if you hold that before you in association with the image, you are actually making the energetic communication possible, and you are being nourished by the energy of the master. It is important to understand this.
How to Draw the Power of Masters
This also gives us the idea that we can draw or pull the energy of masters no matter where they are, by our focusing on them and their ideas and qualities. And this has nothing to do with giving our power away, but this has to do with drawing power into us for our spiritual awakening. Remember, at no time should you lose the idea that your power is being awakened, you are not being given power by someone else and that power is their power. Your power is being awakened by the energy of another. You can draw the power of the master towards you by thinking about them, by listening to their words, by contemplating their ideas and their qualities. You draw the energy of the master towards you, even without the master physically knowing you.
Story of Eklavya - the Power of Devotion
There is a beautiful story in one of the epics of India, the Mahabharat. In this story there is a tribal boy by the name of Eklavya. He was so impressed by the skills of the master archer that he wanted to learn this. But the master archer only taught the royalty or people of certain castes. The tribal boy could not be taught by this master, according to the master’s personality and tradition. But the tribal boy loved the master so much that he would not take ‘No’ for an answer. What did he do? He created a clay image of this master. He meditated upon the clay image until the image became alive for him, and it actually drew the energy of the master. He learned all the secrets of the master, simply by his own devotion and the pull of the energy from the master. One day he was able to perform a feat that only the master could have done, and the master was furious about this when he heard about it. Who else can do this? He exclaimed. The Power is in our Hands
The main point is that he was able to draw the power from the master. Isn’t that amazing? That we may not know a master in flesh but we can draw the power from the master to us! And even if we know a master in flesh who is far away, but we have seen the master, we can draw the power of true masters. That is important to know.
This tells us that the journey is in our hands and the power is ours, to pull, to draw from another, to be awakened inside and to accelerate that awakening. When we meet a master even in the physical realm, as I have been saying, we need to know how to use this energetic communication to go deeper into our own power by using the power of the master.
Presence and Power of a Picture
In my case, do you know that when I left India during my first visit, I felt so much of this power that was awakened, not by the physical master’s presence but by the energy field of the ashram or spiritual center of the master. I could feel the presence of the master just by looking at the picture. It was amazing! The picture was not an ordinary one for me. It was almost as if everything in the picture came alive! I could not believe it. When I looked at the picture I could actually feel that the master was looking at me. Amazing! The picture came alive to me.
Quickening of Energy Hastens the Process
It is amazing when our energy bodies are awakened and we have a relationship with a master. That master can come alive to us, just through the words or the voice or the picture of the master. And that quickens the energy inside of us and propels us on that journey to spiritual liberation. And the master is outside.
Transcend the Physical
For two years before physically meeting my master I could actually feel this inner communication and this inner quickening. I could see that it was my energy inside that was doing this in relationship to the master. It is amazing that at no time do we lose power in that relationship, but we can actually begin to see this move inside based on our contemplation of the master and that energetic relationship. It is important in our relationship with physical masters that we transcend the physical and come into the energy. That is why sometimes it is better to do some of this sadhana or spiritual discipline away from the physical master that may be distracting, because we want to touch the master from inside.
The Perfect Relationship with the Master
When we are able to really touch the master and feel the master inside, we will begin to enjoy the outer presence even more, because we are seeing more in the outer presence of the master. And even when we are with the master, we feel that sense of detachment, yet that sense of inner communication with the master. This makes for the perfect relationship, enjoying the physical company and enjoying being away from the physical because we can communicate with the master from inside.
At no time do I feel disconnected from my master and all the masters who were in touch with me. That is a power that I feel, and I have come into my own. This 40 Days that I speak about put me into my own, but feeling supported, in touch with and in oneness with the spiritual masters. We do not lose ‘us’. Our ‘us’ becomes expanded. This is the journey.
Masters are Gifts from the Source
Today, however, I wanted to just let you know that spiritual masters are around us, and we can draw them to us based on our desire and seeking power. We can draw the energy of the masters to us. They are very pleased, very happy to extend those energies to us, and we can use that energy in our spiritual growth.
Be open to the masters. There are so many masters in our planet and in our Universe. Be open to the masters and draw their energies. May your journey be blessed.
