Guidance /Leadership qualities born of Guru Tattwa
Yesterday I dealt with the subject of Guru Tattwa which is the Guru Principle inside of us. I was explaining how those persons whom we call Guru and in whom we see this kind of Guru power or guiding power, have a very special quality about them that is called Guru Tattwa. This is a quality not of the physical body. It does not come from the strength of the voice or the body, but it comes from the strength of the consciousness. And it comes from a particular quality in the consciousness.
For those of you who are aware of the chakras, when the brow or Ajna Chakra is open and strong it gives that quality of consciousness. So this particular quality of the consciousness when manifested in the human being in terms of guiding, leading, or managing is called Guru Tattwa. The ones who have Guru Tattwa can manage themselves, their thoughts and emotions. They come from a place of no judgment, a place of unconditional love with this quality of being able to influence people in terms of guiding them. So this particular quality in the human being that comes from the consciousness that is able to make them a guide to human beings is called Guru Tattwa.
Imbibing the consciousness of Guru Tattwa
Yesterday I gave a little bit of my experience with this Guru Tattwa and my search for human beings who had this particular power. When there are people who have this Guru Tattwa, how are they able to communicate with us in the way of influence? How can Guru Tattwa influence us? And then how, as a student, are we able to receive this Guru Tattwa of a master or teacher? That power or ability needs to be understood. How do we communicate from teacher to student? - The one who has Guru Tattwa and the one who is trying to learn Guru Tattwa? This is extremely important because if you come before a master or teacher, obviously you want to learn how to receive the most. And the teacher of course, in being the teacher wants to be able to offer the most.
Guru Gita advises us to contemplate on those who have Guru Tattwa, and it says that by virtue of this contemplation we begin to experience that consciousness that is inside of them. It says the consciousness inside of them that we experience in us, when we experience in us that particular quality that we see in them, then we are able to move towards liberation.
Technique of Communication
I am just going to read a verse for you that I have read before, as I think it is an important verse to remember. Today I want to go a little bit into the technique of communication between teacher and student. I think it is extremely important to know what kind of communication can exist between one who has Guru Tattwa and one who wants to receive Guru Tattwa or be able to experience Guru Tattwa. Don’t you think that is an interesting thing?
This verse from Guru Gita says:
Gurur dhyaanam tathaa kritvaa
Swayam Brahma mayo bhavet
Pinde pade tathaa rope
Muktaaste naatra samshayah
Meaning:
Gurur dhyaanam tathaa kritvaa - By meditation on the Guru
Swayam Brahma mayo bhavet - I attain that divine Brahma consciousness
Pinde pade tathaa rope Muktaaste - In this body I experience freedom
Naatra samshayah - There is no doubt
Again in taking the intention of this verse, it implies that if we meditate upon those who have the Guru Tattwa powerfully in them, we are able to get to that state of liberation. What does that meditation mean? This is extremely important.
Communication in Energetics
This brings me into the heart of communication when it comes to energetic. This is the hidden side to communication that we do not learn in any normal learning institute. It is the idea of holistic communication or communication that takes into account energetics – the energy from the spiritual centers that we transmit. I will go into a little more detail later on, but I have been speaking to you about seven centers within us. They are called chakras and they are centers of energy within us. From these centers we are able to transmit energy to the world and we are also able to receive information and energy from the world. Energy is really like packets of information come into us. Or information comes in energy form, in packets of energy.
Science of Divine Energy
When we meet someone with Guru Tattwa that person has these spiritual centers open and they allow for greater communication. We transmit energy through our eyes and it comes from the brow chakra, we transmit energy through our voice; we transmit energy through our heart, the emotional center. We transmit energy or vitality from the vital center, from the sacral and sexual centers, and from the base which is connected to the entire body. It is a beautiful science, the science of divine energy that involves these chakras. There are six chakras from the base of the spine to the center of the eye brows, and these chakras allow us to impact our world in a very powerful way. We have a seventh chakra that pulls us inside and stabilizes us inside.
Principle of Energy Communication
The knowledge of these chakras is extremely important. A true spiritual teacher understands this knowledge. How is that knowledge important to us? When we think of a teacher, one who is established in the Guru Tattwa, energetically something begins to happen inside of us. Underlying this is a very powerful principle. In fact, if you think of anyone you are able to tune into their essential qualities. If you think of anyone and that person is confused or negative, you can pick up their energies using your receiving set – your energy centers. That is why we are told not to associate with people who are negative, and not to even contemplate or keep them in our inner space because we tune in to their negative energies and it interferes with our own energies.
This is a principle in terms of energy communication and when we don’t understand this then we are not selective with whom we associate or with what we think and keep in our mind. So it is extremely important to understand this.
You are what you think about
There is a saying that we become like those with whom we associate, and those whom we think about. You are what you think about. And to go into some detail of this, if you know someone well then their image is etched in your consciousness. It is as though you have a template of that person inside of your consciousness, an energy template because you have an image in your mind and you have the qualities of the person and remembrance of the person. So if the person was a happy person you will have that image in your mind, likewise if the person was negative. So you will remember the qualities of the person and the form of the person. That is etched in your mind, in your being.
Communication beyond the Physical
When you bring that to mind, or when you bring it up to your consciousness or before your attention and you focus on that, you are actually touching that person no matter where they might be. And for those of you who understand distant healing where we pray for people who are far away, when we bring them to mind and think of them we actually touch them wherever they are! People have reported that when they were prayed for by a lot of people, they could actually feel the transformation within them energetically, lifting them and taking them into healing. So think about that.
The deeper the energy pattern, the greater the influence
It may be in our experience that we have thought positively of someone or prayed for them and brought them within our mind’s eye and held them in our heart, and we see transformation in them. When we could not change them by talking to them personally or physically, when we prayed for them we saw transformation. What does it mean? It means that we human beings can communicate with other human beings by the very powerful form we have in our memories. How powerful we make that form, how much we study the person, how much we can really recreate that energy pattern of the person in our mind and heart, so much we can influence them. Which means the deeper the energy pattern is within us the more we can attune to the person, or the more we can influence the person. Very interesting, isn’t?
Be selective in attuning to another
This happens in the human world with anyone we think about. So understanding this, whom would you want to think about? Would you want to think about negative people and tune into their energy? Or would you want to think of positive people and tune into their energy? Ultimately, would you like to think of someone who is free, liberated, and free from the bondage of the mind, from the bondage of low emotion? Would you like to think of someone like that and to see what happens?
The truth is that we are naturally drawn to thinking of such persons. When we meet someone who is very loving, they stay in our consciousness. And if we are very attracted to that kind of quality then that person remains in our consciousness. And whenever we have difficulty we think of that person. We are naturally drawn to thinking of positive people, happy people, those whom we admire and whom we want to be like. We keep on thinking of them as they inspire us. So this is at the heart of meditation on the Guru.
The Power of Association
By associating with a Guru whom we admire, in whose presence we feel love, happiness and purity, in whose presence we feel uplifted by meditating on such a person, by remembering their qualities we are able to tune into their consciousness and to have our own energies awakened. That is at the heart of communication between teacher and student. Isn’t that beautiful! And that is the essence of the verse. By meditation on the one who has Guru Tattwa we are able to attain the state of Guru Tattwa as well. And it says there is no doubt about this.
That is what happened to me. I had a strong energy template of that Guru inside of me and without physical presence I was able to tune into that energy and what happened was marvelous. We will speak more about this, but I want you to understand more about the science of communication that is beyond physical.

Think about what I have said today. It is something that I live in - an awareness. It is a principle that I continuously use in every moment and in everything that I do. This is the side to communication that our world needs to understand, appreciate and use, which is how to tune into the positive energies of the Universe.
