Yesterday we spoke about the quality in the human experience that we call the ego.
Recap
We said that there is a certain quality in our awareness that makes us feel like an individual. It is the quality of self appropriation giving qualities to the self: separateness, individuality. We explored this quality to some extent and we said we will continue today.
I said that even enlightened beings, those who have become fully aware of their identity, carry the ego quality. But it is considered to be a very pure quality- pure in the sense of being completely in harmony with the Universe: harmony within, harmony without.
We said that this ego exists in a source; that it is functioning from a source of infinite possibilities; a source of infinite being, infinite consciousness. We also said that the ego moves from a limited awareness into a much bigger field of awareness. I want you to become more aware of this quality within you, because we said that the ego is really the seeker, the one who is seeking.
Seeking to go beyond limitation
If you exist in a source of infinite love, peace, goodness and wisdom; if you already exist in such a field then why shouldn’t you realize it? So the one who is searching is really ignorant of its true nature, hence the search. The one who is searching within you: “I want to know more, I want to experience more, I want” That’s the ego in ignorance that’s why it is searching.
Do you identify yourself as an ego in ignorance? “I need to know more; I want to know more about my being, my existence.” The ego is therefore becoming aware of its limitation: “I cannot have that; I am lacking this; I need to know more and have more and to be more.” It is becoming aware of its ignorance. Its desire to expand, to be more aware of where it has come from, and where it exists, is causing the ego to want more.
Do you identify the need to know more? “I want to know more. I want to be more happy or loving.” If so, then that need within you to know more is the need of the ego to be more aware of its source of being. So we have established that the ego exists in a source of infinite power, a source of infinite being. You see what magnificent power, those who are in connection with this source, bring into their conscious field.
Qualities of the ego; dimensions of operation
This individual ego is capable of acting, doing, operating; and when it does, it does so in a multi-dimensional field. So we need to know the full capability of this ego in action. What are the qualities that are involved in action? What are the qualities that arise from the ego as it begins to operate, as it seeks to express in such a way that the individual grows and operates in harmony with its Universe, its world, its field of activity?
To bring that to you in an immediate way, is how you operate in your field of action. Sometimes you do that in very limited ways: physically limiting, energetically limiting, vitality limiting, emotionally and vocally limiting, mentally and intellectually limiting. So we operate in those different planes, but in a limited way.
We need to understand all the planes or dimensions of operation in order to fully understand our individuality; and how we can tap into more, so that we can act more appropriately, more intelligently and harmoniously in our space.
The goal: Be wise in action
The goal of this retreat, for me, is to be wise in action. Whenever I act, I act from a space where I am a perfect instrument of the Universe. I am doing what is considered to be appropriate or right in the context of the Universe; in the context of creating harmony within me and around me, my internal universe- my internal world and my external world.
I feel really blessed to have been given the knowledge and experience of different dimensions of human activity: to be able to witness how I operate at subtle levels of energy, and physical levels of energy. To be aware that I can act from a space where I am completely in harmony with my world; where I can understand my world, and act from a space of wisdom and love and peace.
Seven levels of human expression
This has come about by my understanding of seven levels of human expression. In ancient teaching or wisdom this is called chakras. We have within us seven centres of levels of awareness, of expression energetically. Not only awareness but energetics. In these seven centers we can express will in action; we can express qualities at will from these centers. When we become more aware of that, we will see the dynamic play of awareness, will and subtle energy in our field of interplay. And this is tremendously exciting.
When I became more aware of these seven levels and how my awareness grew as they developed; when I became more aware of their influence and their interplay in my expression; how I can generate energy from these spaces just at will, then it lead to the amazing ability to communicate and to interact with my field. I wish I can tell you in a way that you can immediately understand and experience.
Science of the future
We have seven levels at which we operate, and each level gives us a certain ego quality, a certain individual quality of expression. These are associated with points along the spine and brain. These are, of course, invisible. I consider this to be a part of the science of tomorrow, a science of the future. I wish we can learn more about it because it is so important to our functioning as human beings. The only thing is that we do not have any kind of instruments to measure this field of energetics and awareness. Researchers are trying to development instruments to measure this but it is very difficult, though they are getting closer and closer to detecting the subtle energy field. It is interesting scientific research.
These centers are located: at the base of the spine, in the sexual area, navel area, heart area at the centre of the chest, throat, brow and the crown of the head. These are called energy centers. In the ancient teaching they are called chakras. A chakra means a wheel, so it is really about swirling patterns of energy developed at these centers. I will like you to be more aware of this.
Functions of energy centres
In the following days we are going to continue to speak more about this. There is a centre at the base of the spine that allows you to feel your physical being. It allows you to communicate with your physical being in a much more powerful way. You feel grounded when this centre is operating.
There is a centre at the sexual area that allows you control of this function. It allows the ability to harness this energy when not in active use in the way of transmutation, becoming finer energies that can be utilized at different levels of expression.
At the navel there is a centre of vitality. It is amazing when you begin to understand this centre. In ancient cultures they have dealt with this. You can feel your vitality increasing by just tapping into this centre. In the science of yoga this is taught. Also in the Japanese and Chinese cultures they have given a lot of attention to this area and the vitality that it brings.
In the heart area there is the emotional centre- the centre of emotional expression. As you explore this centre, it is amazing what you can discover and learn. How much more you can expand your emotional field of expression, and how much more you can learn to manage this field. Emotional being is an extremely important field. We use emotions all the time in every way and it is so nice when we can understand this energy; where it comes from; how we can become more emotionally uplifted and energized; and how we are able to interact in our world in a harmonious way.
There is a centre at the throat that allows for more powered communication.
There is one at the brow and this is the point of the mind, the intellect, the memory. This centre is associated with functions of the brain in the human experience. So when this is awakened your mental qualities are enhanced in very powerful ways.
There is a centre at the crown of the head. When this is activated in a powerful way, the “I” consciousness within you becomes expanded, and you feel that the human ego is now enjoying a connection with a vast space of being. It feels connected to the Source of being, and when that happens that human being operates very naturally in harmony with the Universe.
An introduction to energetics
Today I am introducing you to the field of energetics, and to a knowledge that allows you to understand your whole being, and how your individuality expresses itself at different levels. It allows you to understand where the physical, sexual, vital, emotional, vocal, mental and spiritual qualities come from, and how they can be managed and expressed in the most beautiful ways. When this field is mastered then we really become masters of ourselves, in complete alignment with the Source of life.
This much I will say to you. In the following days, I will say more on this field of energetics, awareness and individuality.
